The story behind Hoot Yoga
Sometimes a name just feels meant to be. With a last name like Hootstein, "Hoot" has always been part of our family identity. Over the years, my family and I naturally developed a special love for owls — a playful connection to our name that became something more meaningful to me.
Then came the aha! moment: Hoot Yoga. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how beautifully the owl represents not only my family namesake, but also the spirit of yoga.
Owls are known for their wisdom, awareness, intuition, patience, and quiet strength. They are incredibly observant, able to sit in stillness while remaining completely present. They symbolize seeing clearly, trusting your instincts, finding your way, and looking at things from a different perspective. Those same qualities are at the heart of yoga.
Yoga teaches us to slow down and notice. To breathe. To find balance. To become stronger while remaining soft. To listen to our bodies, trust ourselves, and discover our own inner wisdom. And just like the owl, there's room for a little personality and playfulness too.
So Hoot Yoga brings together something I've loved for years — my family, my name, my love of owls, and my love of yoga.
